Educational Programs
The educational mission of MADE: In America is to foster a business climate conducive to the free exchange of ideas and information for the purpose of revitalizing and sustaining the competitiveness of American commerce and industry in a global economy.
To do so MADE: In America has created a broad range of strategic educational initiatives for both manufacturers and consumers and innovative activities that engage and inform the public. Working with members of the United States Congress, Executive Branch officials and in collaboration with leading universities and major cultural institutions, MADE: In America provides access and serves as a catalyst in the creation and implementation of innovative educational programs.
These Initiatives include:
- Consulting services provided by George Washington University MBA graduate students to MADE: In America’s award winning companies.
- An interior design course at Anne Arundel Community college, which resulted in the creation of the winning design for the 2010 Furniture Design Competition, created by BEST: Made In America award winner, Bielecky Brothers, Inc.
- The MADE: In America Showcase, hosted by the Washington Design Center, a public exhibition to heighten public awareness of the breadth of American furniture manufacturing.
- The American Treasures Culinary Experiences held at the United States Capitol and President Lincoln’s Cottage to educate elected and appointed officials, the media, and corporate executives about emerging business models in sustainability.
